Merry Christmas!

Happy New Year!

Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day!

Now that we got that out of the way, I guess I should go ahead and apologize for the lack of posts the last few weeks. I think my blog is going through a mid-life crisis. It will be 3 in July, and I don’t think it’s aging gracefully. I keep telling it to calm down, but something about the big THA-REE is totally freaking it out.

I keep reading all of these articles about how blogging about Owen will scar him for life, and that if I put a single photo of him on the blog, someone will use it in some evil Catfishing scheme. (Poor Manti Te’o.) Anyway, after reading all of these articles about how mommy-blogging is the root of all evil, I decided I would blog about something else.

But then I realized that I don’t really do anything else right now aside from mothering, and therefore I have nothing else to write about. Then I started to get really depressed because I realized I DON’T DO ANYTHING ELSE!

Then I watched TV.

For six weeks.

And then I missed writing so here I am. I still have no idea what I’m going to write about. I don’t want to over-share about Owen because, in all seriousness, I really do think that there is a fine balance we, as parents, have to keep when we share stories about our kids online, and I definitely don’t want to do anything that will jeopardize his safety or his future relationship with me, so I have no earthly idea what direction this blog is going to go in, but I would like to keep writing, so bear with me. Please?

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday and that you’re sticking to your New Year’s resolutions! I didn’t make any, so mine are going swell!

See ya in six weeks! (Kidding. I think.)

Owen Lately (In Video)

December 13, 2012

Owen’s been quite a handful lately. He’ll be two in February, but he seems to think he’s 20. He’s helping around the house … And in the yard … And when all else fails, he’s a world class entertainer!

How We Gave Up the Pacifier

December 10, 2012

Word of Caution: The word pacifier is mentioned about 1,000 times in this post. Owen always handles transitions better than I do. In the past, when we would approach a new milestone, I always worried about what that would mean for our routine or peace of mind. I’d worry that the change would be difficult [...]

Easy Red Velvet Cookies

November 25, 2012

‘Tis the season for baking, but I’d rather spend more time eating, which might explain the extra few pounds I’ve gained since Halloween! I digress. I found this super easy recipe for red velvet cookies on Pinterest about a month ago, and I’ve been making them non-stop ever since. The cookies have all the [...]

Review: Dollar General Premium Diapers A Win!

October 30, 2012

Happy Halloween! Let’s talk diapers, shall we? When Owen came along I was a very big brand snob. “Only the best for my baby!” I thought. Pretty soon, though, our wallets were begging for some relief, and we started slowly incorporating more store-brand items onto our grocery list. So, when Dollar General sent me a [...]

Owen at 20 months

October 17, 2012

Here’s what Owen has been up to lately. 1. He’s speaking two-to-three word sentences pretty regularly now; his favorite word? “Mine.” Favorite sentence? “I want it.” 2. He has quite the imagination! He likes to pretend that his banana slices are frogs that jump around the table, and he can turn almost anything into a [...]

Toddler Muffins

October 9, 2012

A few months ago when I was taking a quick break (read: an entire nap) to check out Pinterest, I found a Pin for Toddler Muffins, which included ingredients like carrots, pureed squash and bananas. Right around that time, Owen was eating pretty well and I didn’t feel the need to sneak vegetables into his [...]

How Wonderful Life Is

October 8, 2012

Today’s post was going to be a muffin recipe, but then my brand spankin’ new sister-in-law shared a few pictures from her beautiful wedding. I had to post them here, obviously. Photo credit goes to Jessica Pendley Photography.           (The title of this post is from Elton John’s “Your Song,” which [...]
