If you’ve ever driven through the South – especially Georgia or Tennessee – you’ve probably seen the “See Rock City!” signs on billboards and on the sides of barns.
The three of us, along with Jake’s parents, sisters, brother-in-law, niece and nephew, did just that over the weekend. We also visited Downtown Chattanooga. Here are a few photos from our trip!
It took us about three and a half hours to get to our cabin, and Owen only slept for about an hour and a half of the trip. Fisher Price iPod apps to the rescue!
The view from our cabin was awesome.

We had a great time on our trip! Have you ever been to Chattanooga? What road trips have you taken this summer?

We love us some Chattanooga! My mom moved to within 45 minutes of there, so we’ve been visiting it quite a bit over the past couple of years. In addition to Chattanooga, we’ve done several road trips this summer. We’ve started tent camping with the kids this summer, so we’ve been to Unicoi State Park in Helen, Georgia Mountains Campground in Hiawassee, Fort Yargo State Park near Athens, and Georgia Veterans Park in Cordele. We’re going to Stone Mountain’s campground next. We also went to Plains to ride the SAM Shortline train, we’ve gone to the Cabbage Patch Hospital in Cleveland, visited the North GA Zoo, gone to Braves games, done a few children’s museums, gone to concerts and movies on the lawn at local places, visited Nate’s parents a few times, survived Tucker’s birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese’s, and we’re headed to Disney in mid-September. We’ve stayed really busy this summer, but it’s been a blast. Although, after looking at the list, now I know why our bank account is slowly dwindling…
haha
I love hearing all about you guys and your sweet family. You’re doing a wonderful job.
Whoa there, Georgia traveler! You’ve been busy, haven’t you?? Jake would LOVE to go camping with Owen but I’m a little nervous. I went camping with Jake once and was baffled that I had to walk across a park to get to the bathroom. (This lady pees a lot. Ha!)
Thanks for your sweet comment! Will y’all be at Homecoming this year?
I would definitely wait until Owen was 3 or 4 before going camping. Tucker was just under 4 years old when we started, and it was perfect. Molly is almost 2 1/2, but things are just different with girls… she listens and stays put, whereas Tucker basically runs around all the time… nonstop… like a crazy man. Nate really wanted to camp, so I gave in, but I’m glad we waited. Oh, and having the kids be potty trained was also a “must.” Oh, and as for the bathroom, yes, we scour the campsite before picking a spot because I HAVE to be in close proximity to the bathrooms. I refuse to walk for a mile just to pee, but I’m not bold enough to use the woods! hah
Not sure yet about Homecoming. We’re thinking about it, but since we’re not local, it’s tough to come in for just a few hours, you know? I’m thinking we could always visit with Micah and Melanie (who I hear you’re in a playgroup with – score!). We’ve got it tentatively on the calendar – I’ll let you know if we decide to come.
We haven’t made any trips this summer – pregnancy has made me quite the homebody… but I have seen SEVERAL posts from people who have done Chattanooga this year, and I am SUPER jealous. Want. To. Go.
Glad y’all had fun!
